As of today, March 25, Anvisa's new measures regarding the use of masks in airports and aircraft are in effect. According to the Agency, masks with openings (models such as N95 and PFF2 that have an opening valve) or protections such as bandanas, face shields and scarves are prohibited.
Fabric masks made by hand or industry from cotton and tricoline are still allowed. As long as they fit the face properly and have more than one layer of protection.
Inside the aircraft, on domestic flights, the mask may only be removed to drink water, and only children under 12, the elderly or people on a special diet prescribed by a doctor may remove it to eat.
The use of the mask is not compulsory for children under three years of age and people with disabilities that prevent them from using it properly.
In airports, the mask can be removed to drink liquids, respecting a minimum distance of one meter, and in food courts or areas exclusively for meals to hydrate and eat.
The inspectorate can request that the rule is complied with and anyone who refuses to wear the appropriate mask can pay a fine of up to R$2,000.
