A recent Ordinance from the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Social Security (GM/MS No. 1,999/2023) updated the list of occupational diseases.
Among the pathologies are Covid-19, skeletal muscle disorders and some types of cancer.
Mental disorders such as burnout, anxiety, depression and attempted suicide have also been added.
In addition to these, it has been recognized that the use of certain drugs can be a consequence of exhausting working hours and even the practice of bullying, as well as alcohol abuse.
Given the range of possibilities, it is becoming increasingly important for employers and team supervisors to be attentive to the practices, procedures and operating models, and also alert to the behavior of their employees, in order to guarantee a work environment free of practices that are harmful to the health of their staff.
